Steve Summers - Vocals, Guitar

After his brother Gary taught him the rudiments of Guitar playing, Steve cut his ‘blues’ teeth at the age of 14, slowing down the Cream and John Mayall Bluesbreakers ‘Beano’ albums to try to work out what Eric Clapton was playing. And of course there was Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck to make sure Eric didn’t have it all his own way. That path lead back to the greats of the blues, a voyage of wonder, and it’s been downhill ever since!

As a young man, drenched in the Blues and 70s rock, Steve played in local bands with many stalwarts of the South London rock and blues scene, and eventually tasted a modicum of success with the band Lip Service in the late 70s. Later, Steve was involved in the session scene for a while, before quitting the music business as a way of life to focus on a corporate career that actually paid money. During this 20-odd year hiatus, Steve and brother Jeff, (and later joined by brother Gary), formed the very popular rock covers outfit, The Loudshirts, which still exists to this day, treading the boards in south London, albeit now without Steve and Jeff. Steve formed his own eponymously named blues-rock band in 2010. As well as releasing 2 very well received albums under the band’s name, with many original compositions by Steve, concurrently he played guitar and wrote songs on 3 albums with Rien de Faire, and along with Derek White and RdF singer Mike Sebbage, formed the band Long Road Home, which released its debut album in 2023 www.longroadhome.co.uk. He also plays in the tribute band Cream of Hendrix.

Scott Hunter - Drums

Scott Hunter began playing drums at the age of fifteen, tapping along to the great albums of the seventies – Sabbath’s Paranoid, Atomic Rooster’s Death Walks Behind You, Purple’s Machine Head, and Heep's Look At Yourself to name a few.

He joined post-punk new wavers, The Moonwalkers (signed to Gary Numan’s Scratch record label), and played many gigs in and around the Home Counties back in the day – including the legendary Marquee in Wardour Street (supporting Denny Laine and Bernie Torme of Gillan). He played the Reading Festival back in ’82 with Against the Grain, has depped for Mungo Jerry and Jackie Lynton, and guested for Ian Anderson on the Jethro Tull album, Catfish Rising.

He has also toured in the UK, Ireland and Europe with guitar ace, Larry Miller, and has survived to tell the tale.

Nowadays he writes fiction, continues to play drums, and still lugs his kit around on his own. (Drum roadies may apply for the vacancy via this website)

Simon Needler - Keyboards

Simon Needler has being playing both drums and keyboards since the early sixties. A veteran of the sixties 'beat explosion',
at the tender age of 15 he was touring in support of The Who, Marianne Faithful and others, and recording for Pye with the legendary John Shroeder at the helm. After taking a break from music to raise a family, he returned to the fray, first playing drums for James Duke, a young singer/songwriter from Swindon, and later, returning to his beloved Hammond organ, collaborated with Dave Gregory of XTC fame, and others in various projects. Latterly he has worked the Tribute circuit playing in two different Tom Petty tribute bands, and depping for bands playing everything from Country to Blues to out and out Pop, before joining the Steve Summers Band as their regular Hammond/keys player in 2024.

Derek White - Bass Guitar

After years of playing bass, Derek is enjoying playing bass with the Steve Summers Band ( SSB) as much as he ever has. Steve Summers is also the guitarist with progressive blues rock band Long Road Home along with Derek White on bass and when the bass player vacancy become available in SSB, it seemed a natural progression for Derek to join.

Derek is a bass player of the rock solid variety working in tandem with SSB drummer Scott Hunter..

Derek has played with several notable names including Bernie Marsden, John Verity (ex Argent), Larry Miller, Lachy Doley (Australian keyboard supremo), drummers Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull ) Graham Walker ( Gary Moore band), Brendon O'Neill (Rory Gallagher) , Richard Newman ( Rory Gallagher, Paul Rogers, Deborah Bonham band) Mickey Barker (Magnum) and many more.

Derek plays Fender Precision, Jazz and Mustang basses but not all at the same time. He plays a Gibson EB3 (well he will do when he puts it back together) and has a newly acquired Ashdown bass.
